Raison d’ętre
We are a family business working throughout Dorset. A brother and sister team of Oliver and Lucy run the Blandford Forum fish shop and the fish stall in the high street Dorchester. We have taken over the mantle from our parents, who have lovingly handed down their experience and expertise, and in return we have dragged them kicking and screaming into the 21st Century!
Some of the reasons why we are flourishing:
- We are fresh fish suppliers: it's our speciality. Our fish comes in fresh every day. It hasn't been sitting on a shelf in a big distribution warehouse somewhere in The Midlands for up to 3 days.
- Where possible, we source our produce locally, in a sensitive manner which prevents over fishing of local waters.
- We support British fishermen.
- We are experts in our field and love what we do. We are subsequently able to offer more advice on how to deal with your fish or seafood and able to offer more know-how than someone who just wears a white coat on their Saturday shift.
- We are responding to a growing disquiet amongst the British people, tired of the same homogenised produce. For more information on why we shouldn't fill the coffers of the supermarkets and their shareholders, please read the bestseller 'Shopped' by Joanna Blythman.
